The American Cocker Spaniel is a distinct variation of the English Cocker Spaniel, developed in the first half of the 20th century. With its refined head shape, silky coat, and friendly temperament, this new type quickly won hearts—both in the show ring and in family homes.

One of the breed's most distinctive features is its long, silky, wavy coat and its large, expressive eyes.
